Cramped

Is it just me, or is the driving position on the e 90 a bit cramped.

On the e 90, the dashboards curves towards the driver, and somehow I can't get comfortable. It feels claustrophobic in the car. And when you eventually settles in, there is zero legroom for backseat passengers. (And I'm not even that tall.)

I remember my E 46's to be much more roomier inside.

I know its not the E90, but I felt the same way when I sat in the F01, which is the new 7 Series. The interior just feels more 'cosy' than that of my E38. If you dont have a map, you will get lost in the E38's interior, but the F01 felt more like I was sitting in a long wheelbase 3 Series than a flagship 4 seat sedan :(
There seems to be some stupid design notion at the moment that eveyone wants the cars to be huge on the outside and snug on the inside. Cars these days really do look too big...take the Chrylser 300C for example!

I have to say that the E30 ain't that spacious either. There is more than enough head room, but not so much room for your legs. I think it's because we have rear wheel drive and the gearbox is taking up space in the middle of the car.

Anyway... see you guys on Monday... I mean Tuesday

totally agree.. when I took the 335 for a test drive I just couldn't get comfy.. it's almost like the seat is mounted higher or something... what made it even worse was getting out, seeing the shape of the car I'd just been sitting in and puking on my suede Puma's

Man I loved those shoes...

I think the "straight" dash design in the newer models make them feel cramped. Spent a few minutes in the E60 (current 5) and found it felt cramped compared to the E39. I think it's got more to do with the interior design that creates a perception of smaller interior ...

What! I'm 6'4" and I had so much room in my E30! Mind you, it was a coupe, and I didn't need rear seat space.

IMO the E90 is too tight, too cramped and the plastics far inferior to the E46. Just take a 2 - 3 year old E90 and look at the area next to the drivers seat, where the seat belt buckle gets inserted into the latch. Those areas are always scratched to shite, especially on lighter interior cars, i.e. dove grey and tan interiors. I've never liked the E90/92 interior. E46 is still my favourite!

It's not that I'm uncomfortable, I just would liked it if there was a little more room. 5cm would probably do it.
