Hi forum folks
I'm a Cape Town petrol head researching my next set of wheels. I am looking at the 2010+ / N55 335i Auto, 4-door as an option. Getting my intro done first, before moving onto the meatier stuff.
Ex rides include E36 318i, Nissan Sentra STi, Runx RSi, Honda Ballade 180i.
Maybe you guys can point me in the right direction for the following:
- N54 vs N55; international forums seems to indicate N55
- E90 4 door vs E92 coupe? Any substantial reason for one way or the other? Yes there are kids, but who cares
- Reputable official/non-official companies/private individuals who could do any service type work and maybe some extra stuff. From some light forum reading stay away from Auric and SMG canal walk gets the thumbs up.
Cape Town CBD and surrounds best preference
- An indication of the quirks of the N55 and what to look out for when buying. I read a particular thread on 3 Series what to look out for, but it appears to only go up to E46. I will give the thread another once over.
Intention for the car, will probably be to keep as close to stock as possible. But I won't rule out some light work stage 1 type work - maybe there is a thread on this somewhere, like the downpipe + fooler and/or some piggy back. I have also gone through the full thread on the motor plan cancellation. Not sure if I'll get a 335i, and if I do, if it will have a motor plan. If not, I'll do some sort of mechanical warranty type thing. Any advise and which to go with or not?
