Cooper s R53 boost gauge

Hey guys has anyone fitted a boost gauge to their R53 cooper s supercharged?

I have fitted a Defi boost gauge over the weekend in mine. I have a 15% pulley and decat. My boost pressure is sitting @ 0.5 bar boost at peak. I know with this set up usually its supposed to be around 1 bar.

Can anyone advise me where am I losing this boost, common faults, or can it be a faulty supercharger?

Your advise will be appreciated.

Check your couplers on the IC. Thats where I had a problem after fitting a reduction pulley.

I replaced with Alta Couplers and problem was solved.

Hi thanks for the reply.

Was there any visible damage on them?

Could notsee any big cracks, just looked like the rubber was worn.

My first tep was to change to the detroit tuned bypass valve but that did not help.

Then did a full boost leak test and found the leak there.

You are correct. It just depends on other factors too. Eg the amount of heat generated equals a loss of boost. So 1 bar is about average

I have a GRS Motorsport IC with Alta Couplers for sale if you interested.

Could solve your boost leak issue (if that is the problem) as well as reduce heat 1

The Cooper S boosts no where near 1 bar due to our altitude, even with a reduction pulley. Superchargers still lose boost as a result, where as turbo's aren't effected too badly.

Most I ever saw on a 17% pulley was 0.7 bar.

I saw about .8 bar with the 17% reduction pulley
