Coolant Loss 2006 320I E90

The yellow ''Coolant Low'' light appeared 13 months after a new radiator was fitted. I have received conflicting information saying that it is ''normal'' to use a bit of coolant. However if the light reappears in a short space of time have a pressure test. I have done more than 1000kms in temps. touching 40 without any loss. Do I wait until the light reappears or do I go for a pressure test which could be a waste of money at this stage?

Doesnt sound like any reason to panic... however... personally i wouldnt want to run the risk of a potential cooling system leak. They tend to get worse over time and failure could have disastrous consequences.

You can monitor your coolant withoit spending money by doing simple things like
- Check for traces of coolant residue around the engine
- physically check coolant reservoir level regularly (maybe once a week)
NB: not all coolant leaks are necessarily visible

I also believe some coolant loss is inevitable so it could be considered "normal" but a pressure test is inexpensive and would offer some peace of mind
