did you get your system pressure tested and a combustion gas test.

could be radiator cap is not working correctly OR you have crack in the head

Hi, the motor got about 38000km on. Was fitted by ceadar bmw. Don't think it will have a cracked head. Getting it pressure tested tomorrow.

I was on a overseas forum where they said somthing about the software, don't know if this is true or not.

The damage you refer to sounds like you getting excessive pressure into your system.

Radiator cap is a relief valve. .....an vents at a set pressure point. Read under the cap......should be three nos

Second item I proposed is if u have a hairline crack from head to water jacket. This will cause combustion gases to leak into the cooling system.

Hi,

would suggest you get a chemical test to check for compression gases in the cooling system like Dhp507 suggested.

Regards

Thank you so much, how much will that set me back.

See my radiator is leaking now again now BMW SA doesn't want to replace a warranty on a warranty. Fighting with them. They said I was suppose to take the car in the check why is it blowing the radiators. But all of the cost is on me. The motor is only got 38 000km on fitted by cedar BMW under motorplan. Since the new motor had endless crap.

Hi,

I think the last test we did at Reptec/Silverton radiators was about R500-700 there about, just call your local decent radiator place. We don't do it as the chemical as a shelf life by when you need to use it.

I tend to agree with most replies, combustion gasses are generally what causes this. Does it give you any warning, ie, temp gauge going up past normal, if so, under what conditions?

Normal driving it sits at 107-112
