technical Condensation in foglight lens E85

Hi,

I have condensation in both my front fog light lenses. From Googling, it seems that this issue is common on the LCI E85, noting that the prefacelift had simple, small fog lamps.

The lights work fine and the condensation disappears if I drive with the fogs on. It seems that the heat from the fog lights evaporate the water droplets.

No issues on the headlamps, just the fogs.

A quick solution appears to be to drill small holes under the plastic lens cover, to allow the moisture to escape. But, a bit worried about rain or car wash water getting in there, unless the holes are angled low down.

Any one experienced this issue before and have other solutions that won't cost too much.

Thanks.20231007_111144.jpg

Check to see if the rubber breather grommets are on the units. They are usually l shaped to allow the light to 'breathe' and dissipate moisture

Is the condensation just a cosmetic issue, or will it eventually impact the wiring/electrics for the fog light?

I guess driving it with the lights on is one way to ensure it dries up.

Probably as the result of it not being sealed properly or the aforementioned grommets missing. In such a small area such as a foglight, you would probably burn the bulb out or create a short if you don't resolve the problem.

Ps it's better to vent them to a fan then use heat to try and remove the moisture which could result in warping ( I learnt that the hard way)
