hi guys

i have been doing a bit research my side and while i am replacing my airflow metre, i would like to change the plugs and coil pack.

Anyone know what they go for and what's a preferred brand for bmw. i really dont think i cna afford the agents pricing so would appreciate any help.

Thanks:thumbs:

There is no need to replace all the coil packs if you do not have any issues with them. They are somewhat expensive as well. Just replace the spark plugs.

i am not sure if the coil packs are gone though, how can i test it? for peace of mind i would be prepared to fix all of them if 1 is gone, but maybe the spakr plugs would be a start. the car doesnt haev any power, stalls sometimes as the revs drops if i slow down for a robot or reverse...no warning lights are on, ran a diagnostics check and nothing came up, disconnest the maf and the car ran beautifully for 1 day, then the problems came back. it just labours away even with my foot pressed right down on the pedal...definately changing the maf unit

sorry man, drive an e46 325ci 2002 model

Coil and MAF will definitely come up during diagnostics. I have replaced one coil pack 4 years ago and have never had any issues with the other 5. :dunno:

its weird. any idea what else it could be? i have heard that maf unit errors do not always show up. that's why i am thinking it could be that. maybe vacuum pipes? a leak somewhere

My MAF didn't show up. On the BMW DTC system it showed as unmetered air entering the system, but said the MAF was fine.

Faulty coil packs will show up on INPA. Can't recall details, but it will be specific to that cylinder with the faulty coil pack. However, you would need to confirm that it is indeed the coil and not the spark plug by possibly moving one of the 2 around and see if the "fault" moves with it.

sjoe thats expensive, so a full set would cost 6 = 4300

That's why I say, only replace the faulty one. You can get them from Goldwagen for about R150-R200 less, but that is still expensive. Check the plugs first.
