Classic car and bike show

I've been there 2 years in a row now as a spectator and every time I was expecting more than what there actually was. The first time I went there was maybe 3 E30's, but they were heavily modified. The most interesting part of the show is the one guy who brings these really old engines and runs them.

Parking is the biggest issue there. You have to park somewhere in the street and if you show up a little late you end walking about 3 blocks before you get to the entrance.

Think I'll rather hold out for the 1000 car show even though parking at that show is just as bad if not worse, but you get to see way more including a few BMW's. The last one had a nice silver 850i.

I got their response now, we gonna be in the show on that Saturday (19 Jan), not the Sunday. Just waiting to see how many cars they got space for....

"Hi Grant,
Thanks for the email. That's great news! You guys would fall into the Saturday part of the show. How many cars did you have in mind (so that I can see what I can accommodate).
Looking forward to hearing from you."

The place is not that big and I hope that they don't put us on the rough parking area as guys with lowered cars might have some trouble getting in.

Will take a look though the picks I have at home and post so guys can get an idea what it looks like.

They got back to me now. They've been busy.... At the moment we got space for 10 cars, closer to the time we might have space for 12 or 15 cars.

Lets start a list for now of whose willing to put their car on display. Its for the Saturday only. It will be nice to have 1 of each model.

What time should vehicles be there and what can vehicles leave? Just asking 'cos I've heard that some shows require people to be there all day sometimes. If I can leave after say 4-6 hours I might come.

2013 CLASSIC CAR AND BIKE SHOW

19 - 20 January 2013

I would like to take this opportunity to formally invite you to participate in the 2013 Classic Car and Bike Show. As before, the show will be held at Timour Hall Villa in Plumstead.

Saturday 19 January: “Modern / Future Classics”
Incl New Cars, Rare Cars, Hotrods, Streetrods, Customised vehicles, bikes, etc,

Sunday 20 January: “Classics”
The usual mix of old, rare and beautiful classics

Limitation on Space
As you know, in previous years we have struggled with limitations on space. In 2012, we once again combated that problem by eliminating all of the public parking fields and utilising the space for the Auto Jumble as well as additional exhibitor parking. This was not without some continued hiccups, but as anticipated, it ran far more smoothly this year and we will continue in this way from her on out. We will once again arrange parking at Timour Hall Primary up the road and would encourage all exhibitors to let friends and family know that this option is available. Updates will be posted on the website. www.classiccarandbikeshow.co.za

Exhibiting Hours
As usual, the show runs from 10am – 4pm and these times will be advertised through the media. In order to try and make it slightly easier to get all the exhibitors in and parked, the gates open at 6am. We require ALL participating vehicles to be in and parked by 9am at the latest. This is in order to be ready when the gates open to the public and to avoid any safety issues with moving vehicles once members of the public are walking around.

As the show does not end until 4pm, please could all exhibitors remain on site until 4pm to ensure the maximum benefit to the public.

If you cannot commit to these hours, please do not put your name down to exhibit.

Despite my pleas every year for exhibitors to please show consideration for each other, the organisers and the members of the public who attend the event, there are always a few cars which spoil it for everyone, although I must say that this year (2012) we had the fewest hassles yet, so congratulations to all Chairmen and club members. It was noticed, and very much appreciated.

Please remember that if you book space for 4 vehicles and arrived with 6, 2 vehicles may be turned away as this causes a logistical nightmare and problems with crowding to other exhibitors.

Bonnets Up & Vehicle Information
In the case of vehicles, please could you display your engine on the day if possible, as this is always something which fascinates members of the public. I believe that there is some concern regarding theft of parts, but this is unlikely to happen. In the interests of security, please ensure that your vehicle is locked if it is going to be unattended.

Please could you display some basic information about your car / bike / machine somewhere on the vehicle / machine – model, year, trivia, etc – as this also helps to enhance the experience.

It is the responsibility of the individual or club to print and provide this information.

Stalls & Signage
Although clubs may not sell refreshments, if any of you would like to sell merchandise relating to your own club, please feel free to do so. You may set up within your own display area. Also, if your club has any banners / signs, please bring these with you. This will help to identify your club to members of the public.

Refreshments
Just like last year, there will of course be a selection of food and soft drinks for sale on the day as well
as a cash bar and beer garden. As before, under the terms of our liquor license, no additional alcohol
(of any kind) may be brought onto the property. This includes bottles of wine, alco-pops, etc.

Entry Costs / Tickets
As before, we will allow one (1) driver and one (1) passenger per vehicle to enter for free on the day. All other friends, family and passengers will be required to pay the R20 entry fee per person. Many of the exhibiting clubs / individuals make a voluntary financial donation in light of the fact that this is a charity fundraiser.

We will make use of wristbands again for exhibitors and you will be notified when these are ready for collection.

For members of the public and those wishing to support both days, tickets will be R20 per person per day (ie R40 for both days).

Tickets will be available for purchase through Computicket ahead of time.

Please RSVP by NO LATER than 16 NOVEMBER
