Citi Rox 1.4i - Hard Start when engine is warm

Hi Guys

As per the header...

Starting up in the morning is not a problem. Engine swings and starts up with no hassles.

The issue begins when the engine is warm and/or at operating temperature. The engine swings and will only start if I push in the accelerator a bit.(almost as if I am pushing the fuel in to start up)

What could be the cause of this strange occurrence?

I've checked around all fuel pipes and there aren't any leaks. (engine bay and around the fuel pump underneath). I have changed the Fuel filter last July 2018 and the mech has advised that it's not necessary to change again at this next service coming up in July 19. I never let the petrol tank run dry and always fill up before that point.

Could this be the Fuel Pressure Regulator and/or the fuel pump (As the pump makes a louder than usual whining sound as of recent)

As always, all assistance is infinitely appreciated

Thanks
Ahmed

How many kilos you got on the fuel filter?
It's inexpensive to replace. Maybe try the filter first.

The louder pumps suggests maybe the filter is blocking?

Apologies for missing that bit.

I do less than 10k kms a year but I am considering having changed out anyway.

Its strange though because it only happens when the engine is warm. Starting up in the morning is a breeze

Thanks Momo. Will add it to the list of suspects

Also check you immobiliser , or if there was one previously installed.
I had a Golf 3 that use to do this, I use to change the coil pack and it would immediately start.
but then it wouldn't , I had an auto electrician completely strip the immobiliser system and i also changed the bogey cords.
the problem never came back but I always wondered what it was exactly.
car would start fine on cold only warm was an issue.

@momo - The security system is still stock. But i'll add new plug leads to the list as well

@rash - Have not changed it out yet as it's number one on the suspect list. Getting the new temp sensor today so will give that a try. Hopefully my journey home will render the engine warm enough to experience the hard start. Will swop out the switch and give it go

Results to follow chaps

@rash yeah I once changed it out years ago but at that point it refused to start at all lol.

Even did some strange jerking and irractic idling before is eventually gave up

This time around its a fine cold start but a hard warm start :eek:mgwaiting:

Hard start update....

Changed out the temp sensor yesterday afternoon but it still has takes some cranking and a push of the accelerator to start up

On to the next part replacement...
