Hi pravin,

I just ordered this stuff as well as my foam cannon :)

If I wax the car with Collinite 476 or 845 and then apply this top coat will they be compatible with each other?

From your experience how does the top coat last in SA climate?

Thanks
A

It will probably lower the life to the Collinite. Being a one step it should have cleaners in that will remove the previous layer.

I would leave it and just stick to the collinite. If you need great protection you should look at one of the new super nano sealants like Gtechniq exo or CQuartz

I would apply the XTC on clean paint and let it bond for a few hours. Being a sealant you will get a different look compared to the Collinte waxes. I would go with either the sealant or a wax as your car is white. On darker colours I prefer to layer down a sealant, and then topup with either #476 or #845.

Just a correction on what calypso said, XTC does not contain cleaners so it can be layered. Normally if a product contains cleaners you can only apply a single coat as each application will remove the previous. This shouldn't be the case with XTC me thinks.

Bottom line, you will see a different shine of a sealant compared to a wax. It will be a more clearer, reflective shine. Which is why I prefer a sealant on lighter colours like white and metallics.

I have found a great combo is to use this, allow to bond for 30 min before removing, giving the paint a few moments and then do a layer of Colli.

Especially on flat colours, on metallics it gives great depth and the flake pops!

Eeeeek! after reading my response and Mike's response I realized how misleading my original post was :argh:

When I say let it bond for a few hours, this is the process you would follow:
Apply the product and let it cure for about 20-30 mins. In most cases 20 mins is sufficient. Then you buff it off. Then leave it for a few hours to bond. I feel if you apply a second coat to quickly, the first coat is still "wet", which can be easily removed by another coat of sealant, wax or even detail spray!

So I did my car last week thursday. Used the XTC for the first time.. been way too busy :(.. but finally got around to it.. I did 1 coat :( could not do another as I was buggered after the whole car wash inside, engine, wheel wells, etc

Dont feel that the XTC beads as well as the Colli products.. So will be washing & giving another coat on the weekend, then will give a coat of the #476.

I think you will find very few products that will compete with Collinite for beading. You have to remember to compare like for like, Collinite is a wax while XTC is a sealant. Generally, sealants are not reknown for their beading. You choose a sealant for super endurance, and the different shine you get from a sealant. I always recommend a sealant for lighter metallics as I think it makes the biggest impact on those colours.

If its beading you after, Colli all the way!
