Changing thread title - possible?

hopefully thats not the case, most forums Im on allow the OP to do this, seems a bit silly to pm a mod just to update the thread title

Yup, only mods can do so. You yourself can only change it within 24 hours of creating it.

Cause imagine every week a bunch of new thread titles and nobody knowing what happened to a thread they were following, and then remembering the name of the thread, trying to search for it with the search fuction, and not finding it, cause the guy who created the thread decided to change it over night.

At least this way we ensure that the guys don't just change titles when it suits them, but need to ask and explain why they want it changed.

But the other way also makes sense, mainly for rides threads (I dont think we will see a lot of guys changing thread titles in the other sections)
you know how it works on the vwclub, every time you did a major mod you can edit the title. Worked well if you didnt follow the entire thread and just pop in now an then if something catches your eye

But I guess the general need for it isn't outweighed by the absence of the option to change thread titles.
