Change of Ownership

I decided to pay off my car, I have received the papers from Wesbank, which included the Yellow NCO(Notice of Change of Ownership) form, a representative letter with certified copy of id from wesbank, and the license of the car.

I was under the impression i could just fill to the form and take this to the license department , in my case, in Andries Street, Pretoria. When i get there, i am told i need to fill out a MVR1a(Motor Vehicle Registration and Licensing) form take to Waltloo or Akasia department with R132.00. Is this the case for all areas, or just Tshwane?

The car still has valid registration and i am just changing ownership, why does it have to be so complicated? Now will have to take time off just to sort this out...

Andries str is FUBAR. they only do commercial now. Akasia, or Waltloo. Bunch of red tape beaurocrats who dont want to work. Never any queues at Andries anymore, but you still cant register there.

Such a big building..., so many staff.., so little work... And of course they make it more inconvenient for the majority of the people...

Hey sash,

Same situation here. I went to Centurion, and was told that only watloo does it.

I can't understand what's so difficult. It's a paper exercise, plus some name changes on the system. It should be able to be done anywhere!

Exactly.., any idea what time waltloo opens and how busy it can get?

My golf is paid off for over 2 years and the bank is still the title holder. I just didnt bother changing it. I suppose it will only matter when u selling the vehicle.

The yellow form that the bank sent you along with the reg doc, is for the traffic dept, to tell them that you will now be the registered owner.

Basically the form says, listen we sold this, we no longer have any interest in the car.

Then you go and fill out a blue form, informing the traffic dept that you are now the registered title holder and owner, and complete a section with the particulars of the car. Hand this in, together with the docs from the bank, as well as your ID.

I paid R100,00 last week for the e46's registration. (The license was taken out less than a month ago, so there was no pro rata payment involved.)

At least, this is the procedure in Cape Town. Don't know if the colours of the relevant forms are the same in Gauteng.

The bank sent me a yellow form, but all the forms at the license department were white. I had to provide proof of residence (which i didnt know) as the address on their system is my previous address, but my fines come to the right address...
