Hello , I have been reading about the replacement of this drive train part, and nobody has mentioned the life span of this part. How often should one check it ? What are signs an symptoms? Vibration? Noise?

I would check the drive train by removing the universal joint first (guibo). On the e46 the entire exhaust and heatshield has to come out (not too much of a mission if you have assistance.) Whatever you disassemble, make marks and assemble exactly in the same way, otherwise you might make matters worse...:flyfun:
There must be some kind of vibration for you to pose this question, so be sure it is not tyre related or perhaps a wheelbearing (they all make different noises :yuck

Theres clunk sound from 1st to 2nd gear and low speed vibration (80kmh)
