Prices for this range from R150 to R200 a litre. Did not find time to call more people today...

Yep... this is true.
I have found a TIS document in a previous post that says that Castrol Edge is approved for the S62/S38, but have also read alot about it has to be edge and not edge sport... Also looking on castrol's site, if you look up my M5 for example, it specifies the Edge...

i think tws has an additive that edge does not have.has anybody used edge for an s62 motor.that edge 10w60 is on spcl at autozone.got it for R280.put it in a peugot 206 hdi.the cheapest i bought tws was at autozone ballito for R145.they dnt hav stock now for sum tym.bmw smg charges R165.

Ok, so further on this topic
I spoke to Castrol themselves, and Castrol does not bring in the 10w60 Edge, the sport of course, but not the edge. The Edge that you do find is then of direct import, but again I quote that castrol does not bring in the 10w60 EDGE.
Further, I have spoke to one of the main distributors for castrol (got their number from castrol) and they have TWS by the case for about 130 or something a litre, but only sell by the case and you have to take 12 litres.
So stuff that, LM 10w60 GT1 it is, have 5 litres already, going to pick up another 5 during the week, and I have an OEM filter ready and waiting.... About R420 for 5 litres. I am going to buy 10 litres based on the high oil consumption.

Many Many differant opinions about the topic, some are die hard castrol as thats what the OEM says, end of discussion.
I like frequant oil changes, I'd rather change every 7500 then 15,000 or at least every 10...
