you can drive an imported car here which is registered in another country with you being a SA citizen.

How does this work? I have a friend who lives in Malawi, he said cars are crazy cheap there, so he could get an R34 GT-R for like 200k.

My concern is, how does this work? Could i drive it here, would i need to find a dodgy way to register it etc...?

you can actually register a GTR here legally...for the non collectables (what they consider a "collectable") you would have to drive it on Lesotho plates etc. on someones name from there...then i think MiWay has some insurance coverage..

all i know is, We over pay for everything.

When i was in Saudi 2017, a 600ml bottle of water was like 1 Riyal = R3.40 at that time.
That in a country who only drinks bottled water due to the lack of rain.

The cars thing is new to me. really. A place this close sells cars less than Half price that we paying for...

ja its something i realised years ago with UK car prices...was told that if the prices are too high ..you just import a car from a neighbouring country...it regulates itself..over here..because we have ridiculous import laws...we are f'd and people think its completely normal to pay R300 000 for a polo ..its why i dont buy new cars.

Taking all things into account, general cost of living is low in SA compared to all the above mentioned countries which is the most important thing.

welllll..buying a property in Cape Town...not so much...even if your kid studies his ass off and gets a nice first job...he will need to be earning R90 000 a month to purchase a house for R3m...thats Kraaifontein or something :dunnoanymore:
R30 000 will be going to that bond.

We mostly drive Japan imports here in Swaziland at the lower end of the market. There is absolutely zero reason to buy an e46, e82, or e90 in from SA anymore as the cars can be had for as much as half as much in some instances.
