Wahaha!

I love it Coisman! Clearly you (much like me) have far too much time on your hands this Sunday morning.

:pimp:
Anything to pass the time at work... I will be here till 18:00 :thumb:
Wish I could go for a drive in one of the patrol cars,
chase some criminals and "Skiet die bliksems!!"
to bad my patrol car is a merc, not a bmw, that's why I stay in the office,
don't want to drive around in a merc... :puke:

I work in the Radio control room of the metro police as a supervisor. :pimp:
Now I am a fully trained metro cop, so i can and will "Skiet die bliksems!!" :excited:
So my job is to sit in the office the whole day and supervise the shift on duty. :hammerhead:
I must also make sure that the members outside doing patrol don't get sick from driving in merc's.
So what I do is let them come to my office every 2 hours, then i take them for a 1 minute drive in my bmw, :worshippy:
then they have the joy to keep working for another 2 hours.
O yea, before i forget... and sit on the internet all day :)

No biggy... :thumb:
the problem is the head of our IT department drives a merc,
so everytime I kick his ass on the way home from robot to robot,
he pushes up the security level on the server. :censored:
I thought about losing on purpose, to get him to relax a bit, :nono:
but then he will be going around saying he beat a bmw in his merc, :cursin:
as we all know according to MiniMike, merc's are shit, but SMART's are ok,
so I will rather be restricted access on the server, than have a merc driver badmouth bmw's. :slap:
...I have considered to "Skiet die bliksem!!" but I like the sad look on his face after I beat him, too much.
:pimp:

You f*cking t*t. This thread has made my day as my very Smart (Mercedes Benz Built) car is sitting outside sulking in the rain....

I left the radio on for a bit too long this morning. :bawling:

I also hated Mercs, until my father bought a w201 190e Sportline.
That car handles 10 x better than any e30 I have ever had or driven (assuming we are talking about standard setups tough) and it is still nice and comfy.
Not the quickest of cars I agree, but a worthy opponent to the “other” German cars and at least you can still get every single little part new.

I have never owed a Merc, driven a few, so can't really say much more than has been said. Merc or BMW? depends what you are looking for. In my opinion, these 2 co, even though competing for the same market, have different philosophies. Merc has always been for the gentlemen. A performance model for merc will be to take the normal car and stick in a big V8. Goes like hell in a straight line, but no feedback, no feeling, no soul. C55, E55, C63...huge pulling power.
BMW on the other hand, take more time in all round performance and handling. Just look at the E55, E Class with a big V8 and some mags that revs to 6000rpm, overtaking is a breeze, straight line speed amazing. Now compare that to what BMW did with the M5...as a performance model, the entire car is just amazing, the motor in phenominal (still my fav BMW).
If you want a fast, smooth vehicle, Merc is your car. Many would say that traffic, speed limits and all the other problems of modern day living make having a car that handles well pointless, so the Merc would be the best choice. But dont expect that when you leave work after having a crappy day, your Merc is going to put a smile on your face driving home. Might seem like something small, but for me, is worth it.
Just my personel opinion...

My dad used to have a Merc, when I was small.. I ended up crashing it through their friends double garage door cause I was "driving" & turned that hand brake release that was next to the steering wheel... :)

He has had BMW's since then

I have found this thread very interesting. Let me give you my point of view. I have been very heavily involved with Merc from a young age. I grew up on the backseat of an S Class in the 70s so if my old man had them, there was no other car to buy right and I have had plenty - also not boasting.

My thought process used to be BMW was crap, it was for the boy racer and the bigger models were so full of electronics you were just looking for trouble. Besides when did you last see an old BMW? You get plenty 19 voetsek Mercs on the road today. I also used to be heavily involved with the Mercedes Club of SA - I held a committee position for a number of years. As was stated previously, their on line community is not very helpful and the forum is heavily moderated. In the Merc club, it seems to be more about how perfect your car is and how much money you have rather than the enjoyment of the cars. There is always secrecy amoungst members about how much was paid for a car and how much was spent on it! I must say that it is a pleasure to be here and you guys are a great bunch.

Being a Mercedes owner has a certain arrogance to it in that you believe your brand is better than a BMW. I will say that you can walk into the parts department at Merc and you can still order a gear lever for a 1968 108 280SE, although at a stiff price.

So fellows, it has taken me 37 years to buy my first BMW and I still can't believe why it took me so bloody long to do it. I am loving her to bits!

Don't get me wrong, I still own a near pristine 1993 W124 280E and will probably not sell her easily. My wife drives a 1986 230E with over 400 000km on it. She has said if I try and sell it, she will do nasty and painful things to me!

I guess the bottom line is that I can't understamd why I have been labouring under this "Merc arrogance" for all these years - it was a waste of time. I should have bought a BMW sooner! The two can happily co-exist.

I just like to evaluate each car manufacturer and their cars on its own merits. I consider myself in general a car lover with a slight BMW bias :) (I would be more likely to spend my money on a BMW but I am open to other manufactures).
I love BMW's first and foremost, but that doesn't prevent me from liking and wanting other cars.
One of my all time favorite car that I would want to own just as badly as a e30 ///M3 would be a 190E 2.5l AMG evo (something like that) (What a car  )

Personally I don't like the new direction BMW is taking in their design etc, this whole "joy" thing in their ads just pains me, then again in most cases if they used "Ultimate driving machine" it would kind of be a lie, now wouldn't it?
