Buying a 135i

I am in the process of buying a 2009 model. It however has had a frontend accident of R90k which was repaired by a BMW approved shop.

What do you guys think?

I will be going to the dealership later today to get a printout of everything.

What's up mate.
Depends what was replaced. That sounds like cosmetic as well as suspension.

Tell us a bit more about the car.
There are quite a few 135is available with clean history's, including mine. Just saying.

I'd say get the print out and see what was replaced.
Headlights ( if xenon can cost north of 20k each ) and cosmetic stuff can run up to 90k easy.

:withStu: if it's just cosmetic things then it might be worth looking at but if suspension bits was replaced then I would say look around a bit more, like Devon mentioned his car is clean and a good example of a 135i.

Have a look at what was repaired on the car, just also note that if you don't intend on keeping the car. This will count against you when you want to trade in or selling privately.

Same here....Devon car is well looked after, clean on the inside and out. Maybe you should look at as well before climbing into this other deal. Think his around till tomorrow.

Thanks guys.

Ok, so it turned out not to be frontend. Unfortunately the shop is closed for the festive season, so we couldn't get an invoice to show the work done. They however phoned the previous owner as he is a current client of theirs, and offered to speak to me directly. It was apparantly the
back wheel that clipped a curb and they had to replaced various parts around the wheel (suspension parts)

This is the one I am looking at:

BMW 135i - Clearwater BMW

The other aspect is that I need to trade in my current car and they are offering me a decent value.

The car is still under plan and I intend to extend the time with a year. On the printout it is basically normal services with wear and tear items being replaced other than fuel injectors that was replaced in July.

That price is too high esp for that damage repair and mileage.

I was selling mine, DCT, Xenon, BMW Pro sound with Harmon Kardon, 45000km, LeMans Blue, M Sport pack, no comments, sunroof, 2011. But I struggled parting with it, so am keeping it. Best decision I have made. Still loving the car.

Don't rush it. If you have to ask the question you just did, its not the right one for you.

Based on what they are doing on my trade in I am basically getting the car for R225k.

I am seriously considering the advice given by everyone here today and will keep pondering on it tonight and make a final call tomorrow. The limiting factor for me remain that I need to be able to trade my car in.

Ito the servicing. I asked him about it and he stated that it was an error on the template they used for the ad.

That must be the world's most serious "curb clip" that cost R90k !

There are better deals out there, don't rush your decision, the right car will come to you.

What car are you trading ?

I think I'm going to wait a bit first.

I like the one at Bruma Auto also for the manual aspect, but for daily driving I like the lazy option of auto. :)

My car is a '11 A4 3.0TDi which is apparently not popular hence the poor trade values generally

Hmm call me crazy but trading an A4 3.0TDI :praise: on a used and low spec damaged 135i is a downgrade in my mind.. Not sure of your reasons but yes it is wise to keep looking for a great specimin, else you shall regret this... My 2c best of luck with the search! :coolShake:
