Buyer advice needed 435i or 340i

Hi

I'm considering buying a vehicle and I've narrowed it down to either a 435i gran coupe or 340i. The 435i is 2014 M-sport with 7000km for 599k and the other option is a 340i new vehicle m-sport model for R758k. I'm struggling to make my mind up as to which vehicle would be a better buy/choice . I like the shape of the 4 series although the year model maybe a small concern, the 340i on the other hand is perfect except for the fact that it looks like any other 3 series in the road.

What do you guys recommend?

Yes , only 7000km according to the dealer
previous owner only used it 6 months of the year when he is in SA.

435i for the win! It's substantially cheaper! You could quiet easily extend the mplan if required. Besides having a better engine, the 4 series is superior in terms of aesthetics & drive imo. Keep in mind that the 4 series would be pre lci so u may have a chance on further negotiating the price lower. Jut my 2c, I'm sure whatever u decide u will not be disappointed. Go for the 340i if you want the latest engine but if you like the garage queen and low kms and obviously don't mid the excellent N55...then go 435i.

You got a first world problem here...lol...good luck with whichever purchase you make buddy!

Maybe consider this 2015 340i (probably a December 2015 model) with 27k Kms for the price of the 435i that you mentioned...came across this while browsing some trees:

Car is pretty decently specd as well

The drive on the B58 is fantastic. The 4 series as mentioned will probably be better a esthetically etc. Drive both, I'm sure you will enjoy the power and the delivery on the 340 more.

The 4 series front bumper puts me off to be honest, it is too 'flat' if that makes sense. It needs a Lip spoiler to tie it together.

The 340i still gets my vote, can see I prefer a saloon car lol :rollsmile:

I think that's what I need to todo, I guess the reason for going for x35i or x40i is for the performance of the vehicle so it would prob come down to which is more exciting to drive.

If you going to use the car and actually drive it get the 340i, because newer engine!

If its a "garage queen" or a weekend car get the 435i as its cheaper, and due to the fact that its already 2nd hand you might not lose as much on it if you not going to use it so much in any case.

Based on the current thread about the B58 recall for the manual transmission, i would stay away from a stick shift.

big difference in price...could fit an E46 M3 in there lol..the new engine is great BUT the 4 series is way better looking & the pillarless doors :blowheart:

in my humble opinion in terms of engine yes...i would never take a 3 series over a 4 series 4 door...the rear lights..the pillarless doors..the boot..the front lights & grill ...the roofline..way sexier.
