I don't want to hijack Burgy's thread so I don't post there, that if a customer is not happy with our software we will waive any installation / removal fees and he walks away with just the cost for the dyno runs....

I think thats fair.... whats your opinion?

+1
With a policy such as the one you have announced you do 2 things.
1 You stand by your product
2 You stand by your product

To you I say well done and your policy is even handed and entrenched in the confidence you have in the service and product you supply.

You should specify the if he is not happy part. Some ppl will gain what was promised and because they cannot feel the difference they un happy.
If the software is a flop the customer shouldn't pay a cent and you should carry the dyno costs too as you haven't theoretically provided what was promised.
In theory running a before dyno will bring up problems the car might have prior to tuning which will ,minimize the scratching of the head part later.:flyfun:

If the customer has his car dynoed and the car has problems then why proceed further ? If you proceed further at the customers request and he is later unhappy it is his problem .

I think the public sees a " chip " as a bottomless power pit , gains of 20-30 percent etc are expected .
If I have smoother idle , better throttle response and better fuel consumption I am happy , but everyone is not the same !!

... but there are customers who know it all and make it the tuners problem in any case!

I wouldn't proceed if i was a tuner. The problem must get solved first and not "ironed" out electronically.

This is a common problem too and very unethical if someone does it. Common with 35 owners that have misfires that are injector related.

I could tell about a "case" where the customers car has a hardware problem but the customer despite 10+ independant people telling him different, he still maintains that the software causes "his" problem

But I won't tell.... :biglol:

I agree with George on defining of unhappy.

I think that you offering the sort of customer service that very few others are is a sign of an ethical businessman, certainly someone I would do business with.
