BT Audio streaming in 2011 320d

Hello Ladies and Gentlemen,

I just joined the group a few days ago after purchasing my 2011 320d auto.
I am loving the car thus far, I have one problem that's annoying, I cannot stream audio to my BMW professional car audio system from my phone. I took the car to Donford BMW and they told me I can only use the BT for making and receiving calls, not for streaming audio. I'm very disappointed with this because the Datsun go I was renting could stream audio. I bought a Bluetooth car kit that uses FM transmitter to stream but the sound quality isn't as good as the native audio system in the car. Is there another workaround?
2. I would also like to know the fuel consumption for a 2011 320d auto with run flats

3. Is it expensive to remove the cat? will it also help improve fuel consumption?

Thanks

For point 1, you can look into a blueotooth to aux adapter like this. It does not use FM:

Bluetooth adapter

Other option is an OEM retrofit, but that might be expensive and may require coding.

# 2 The 320d should be frugal already. Keep your tyres at the right operating pressures. If you contemplating replacing the RFTs for non RFTs for better fuel consumption then i would say dont do it. Rather have your tyres, tyre pressures checked as well as wheel balancing and wheel alignment and your driving style. You could consider a tune for better fuel consumption too.
# 3 Yes you can have a DP fitted. You can contact me regarding the 320d.

1. I'd personally just scrap the OEM radio and put in a decent after market one - add a reverse cam and bluetooth and so forth - you can always return the radio to OEM when you sell it and take the aftermarket radio and put it into your new car.

2. I have heard lots of people say they'd rather not have RFT's, although have never seen fuel consumption being the reason - generally it is due to extra grip, cheaper tyres, quieter and smoother ride compared to RFT's.

3. From what I have read, it does make a difference in terms of fuel consumption and power. Sanjeev from Powerflow seems to make a really good Down Pipe for the 320D. As for whether it is expensive, depends what you classify as expensive - the price for one from Powerflow is average for a good downpipe. You could probably have it done cheaper, I'd rather pay a little more and have peace of mind and know it's a really good product which I have.
It is recommended to have software done on the car as well, RK Motion do really good tunes on the 320D's and that where I plan on going when I get my 320D.

:bravo: point 3 is perfectly said

#2 . I would never change from run flats personally , They are amazing and saved me when i was doing high speeds and had a blow out , I still drove another 5km with a fist size hole in my tyre to a safe spot and then called a tow truck

#1 . I would look into what Msm said use the adaptor ,

Welcome to the forum, bud.

Unlike the Datsun, the BMWs selling point isn't BT streaming :biglol:

Go with #1 listed by PsyClown. I have done this in both E9x models and I don't think I'd ever go back to the stock unit, by choice. The stock unit is floating around with someone on this forum anyway. It had BT streaming capability but it's going to be a mission to get it to work (at least - in my experience).

The member with my radio (who I assume bought it for BT streaming) cannot even get the radio to light up - however it works fine in my car, which is obviously 'configured' for that specific radio type.
