To be honest, can't say that I'm too impressed. Was hoping for more, I think the new S Class was definitely ground breaking in it's appearance - maybe that's just me.
It certainly isn't bad but I think it's more of a missed opportunity than anything. I'm sure it will drive great though... Perhaps all the leaks of low quality pictures so far has tainted it for me...

Personally I find the 7-er (and in fact, most BMWs) to be more masculine than its Mercedes counterpart. The interior of the G11 is certainly a big step up for BMW in terms of perceived quality (quilted leather, etc) and there certainly is no shortage of tech.
I watched a very honest review of the S-Class yesterday in which the reviewer said "you dont need a large wallet to buy an S-Class, you need a degree in engineering". He also went on to say that when you press the "menu" button on the AC Control Strip you will take the next couple of afternoons figuring out all the settings. The same apparently goes for the rest of the new COMAND system. It consists of layer on top of layers and yet more layers. It is almost as though Merc is going through what BMW went through with the E65, which is making the simplest of tasks unnecessarily complicated.
Hopefully BMW has taken heed of consumer complaints and made iDrive simpler to use than it's current iteration.

I would recon they use three different lasers (red green and blue) and a three colour x-prism to combine the light in order to get white light, as you don't get white laser light.
They probably also have one or more time-varying field homogenisers to destroy the coherency of the lasers......though then technically you can no longer call it laser light, then it is just narrow band light. In this case they probably have one for each colour as the interfence pattern for each with source will be different.
Then there is probably filter(s) or light-tube(s) to correct the light distribution.
Hopefully they managed to dust-proof these lights (unlike the lights on previous models) as dust and lasers are not friends.

Hi the reason it is so high is because they fit transport spacers in the suspension while they get transported. Once at the dealer they get removed and the gap is reduced.

I have driven it and it is loaded with technology, even has an option for laser headlights. awesome vehicle, miles ahead of the competition.

It also has gesture control wereby you just rotate your finger clock or anti clockwise to raise or lower the volume.
