Brake Pad Problem

I replaced my front brake discs and pads recently (DIY) with OEM stuff from the dealers.
Yesturday I noticed that my discs had started to develop radial grooves in them. On further inspection it seems that the pads have been 'chipping', causing these grooves I see on my discs.

Is there something wrong with these pads? What is causing this?

Thnx!

They were not worn down metal to metal.
I changed the discs at the same time, so it doesn't make a difference. (see first post)

hmm, looks like it got contaminted somehow... your supposed to clean the discs with petrol before you put them on... and bed them in properly :)
its quite possible that you got some bad pads dude :/ ...

next time just buy ATE pads from midas, its the EXACT same pad that BMW uses... so they are original. just doesn't have the bmw logo on it. nothing beats the stock pads... ferodo's are not as good as the stock pads, and ferodo's get REALLY noisy sometimes...

Thanks Clutch, starting to think they are also dud/bad pads :nono:
I used brake cleaner to make sure the discs were super clean before I put the pads in.

that can cause this
you wont believe the amount of sand that lies on our roads and get picked up in the rain
on my rims i take about a tablespoon out of them after a trip of 300km in the rain
lightly sand the pad down with 100grit paper
if you can put the paper on a piece of glass even better rub it up and down till the shine is off the pads
these pads do look like they are hard as the disk looks like its already got a ridge
then try and avoid hard braking for the first 300km

the pads looks very hard, and the chips out looks like there were small pieces of metal that is missing.
