Boost gauge

Need some advice pls. I want to install a boost gauge on my X1 (E84). I would assume that the engine is the same as the E90, 320d. Where would I pick up a vacuum line to add a T-piece for the boost gauge?

why do you want to install a boost Gauge? boost is pressure so you will need to tap into one of your boost pipes. a vacuum line is the inverse of boost which will give you a negative reading.

Vacuum/pressure pipe, sorry. Where would I find a spot to insert a t-piece for the gauge?
Always preferred a boost gauge to keep an eye on things.

I wouldn’t fit a unit that you thinking off. As you have to tap into your boost pipes which may become costly if something were to go wrong. Rather go for a P3 vent or similar where it taps into your obd port to get all the readings. That way nothing gets hacked up and you have an oem + look . you also don’t look like a boy racer with a random aftermarket gauge chilling on your dash

Exactly. There are a lot better options out there than your traditional style gauges. It costs a bit more but it is worth it.

also keep in mind that a diesel does not generate vacuum since it has no throttle blade, the vacuum needed by misc whatever has to be generated by a dedicated vacuum pump. meaning there is no convieniant vacuum lines that can be teed into on the inlet path..

so if you want to read boost with a physical guage you will have to tap a hole somewhere in the boost pipes or inlet manifold..

This is awesome! How many randelas would something like this cost? Obviously motorplan would be affected??
