The name might sound German, but the company is in fact Californian. Renowned Stateside BMW tuning specialist, Vorsteiner, has revealed its hardcore M4 GTRS interpretation, set for public debut at the SEMA Show in Las Vegas this week.
Essentially a widebody M4, Vorsteiner’s GTRS4 is the result of technicians having 3D-scanned BMW’s M4 before CNC machining prototype components for the modified body panels, of which there are a great many.
Liberally flared wheel arches and fenders add 160mm of overall width and accommodate 345 cross-section Pirelli P Zeros at the rear. Yes, you read that correctly: 345s…
Carbon-fibre front and rear bumpers feature a splitter and aero blades up front, whilst an integrated diffuser frames 90mm quad exhaust tips at the back. Rolling 20-inch alloy rims, Vorsteiner’s GTRS4 look like the lovechild of BMW’s 435i Coupe and a Lamborghini Countach. All told, it looks rather unsubtle and might be impossible to park in your underground office garage.
Mechanically this GTRS4 tallies significant improvements over BMW’s already redoubtably engineered M4. Fully adjustable dampers from German custom suspension supplier, KW, are homed in each wheel corner whilst an ESS Tuning E-Tronic engine management upgrade boosts peak power from 317- to 410kW.
Notably extreme but impeccably engineered in its execution, Vorsteiner’s showcar is very much the ironic aftermarket preamble to what BMW could likely produce with its own M4 GTS…
