BMW's Complimentary Holiday Travel Check

Has anyone here been for this?

I have heard it advertised on radio and I also received an email about it.

Apparently you can book your car in for a complimentary "once-over" before your long journeys to make sure everything is fine under the hood, chassis etc. Also, you get 12 months courtesy roadside assistance as part of the offer.

Is there a catch? Is it worth the time and effort?

I generally stay far away from BMW dealer workshops but I think it might be interesting to see what they pick up on, if anything.

We do it here at Hyundai also i think.

There is always something your car needs, from brakes to wiper blades to globes.
So they will find something to sell you.

There's an annoying clicking sound from the right front suspension that I might get them to find, then repair myself :)

yes i think they will definitely find something that needs replacing but as you said Chef if there is no catch & they diagnose then its pretty cool..they must just check without driving the vehicle off the premises:RedNo:

Lol - but in all seriousness all they did was give the vehicle a once over while my wife had a coffee

Just booked mine in for Friday. They said they basically check fluid levels etc, suspension, tyres, battery and seat belts?? yes, seat belts??
O well, will let you know how it went when I get it back. Car was only serviced 3 weeks ago, so will be fun to see what the find. Got a strange knock on suspension, so hopefully they find that too.
Thanks for posting the info about this free check up.

My car is going for a regular service tomorrow and they offered it to me as an additional service... surely these things would be checked during a normal service in any case...

I need to make this booking, I want my car inspected but don't have the bucks, Gonna feel so poor if they tell me that there's a lot of things that need fixing though

Are you guys hundred percent sure there's no catch? Like you supposed to have bought your car from BMW?

Just got car back from Cedar Isle. A bit of waste of time really, they checked the real basics. Tyre pressure, coolant, oil. Might get a free car wash if your lucky, but I didn't feel like waiting then getting stuck in a hail storm. Good service from Cedar Isle, better than what I'm used to in Cape Town.
They couldn't find the "suspension knock" issue I was hearing. I managed to go for a ride with the technician and then he heard it, booked in for Monday again. R825 to give a proper check and report back.
If your near a BMW dealer and its easy to drop off and collect, do it (free coffee and car wash). Otherwise not really worth it.

My car is going on Monday. At least it's a free wash a coffee as you say. Though the coffee at autobahn is crap.

Well they phoned and said car is ready. Oil change was due in 4500km but they have done it now so for me was definitely worth sending my car in.

So the catch not mentioned in the mail is that you need to do an oil service with them as well to received the 12 months roadside assistance :thumbdo:
