The 15th December marked three full years that I've been apart of the Fanatics family :coolshake: after realising this the other day, it took me back on some retrospect as to how this community has 'invaded' my life :fencelook:
I still recall clearly the day Naruto (Mdu) followed me from Fourways Crossing, to the BP to invite me to the Breakfast Run to Harties the next day - little did I know that the small gesture would shape the rest of my life as I knew it...
How deeply has this community injected itself into my life? Here's the analysis below:
After having attended the breakfast run, I really, really enjoyed the forum and members with the friendly and welcoming attitudes. Also, being relatively new in JHB I also figured that joining such a community would be a great platform to make friends (I still believe that most people befriended me due to a certain hellrot M3 coupe :roflol: )
From meeting a lot of people, and seeing how their cars were taken care of it pricked some interest in me - Detailing. So off I went, decided to become a Detailer, with limited skill and a steep learning curve but inspired by the Fanatics and how amazing their cars looked :inlove: that passion evolved into Clean Car Tech... Which also saw me pair up with Rowen - who I also met through the forum. Most of my client base and referrals come from this platform too. If you don't already have an advertiser contract, get one now
My social circle - the crazy bunch of guys and girls that I call friends mostly consist of people I've met through the forum, at events, etc. The night I crashed my M3 - the Fanatics and friends were literally around the corner to help me through the ordeal. That moved me. Everything from ensuring I was checked into the ambulance to stripping all the sound and goodies off my car before it was towed away - all Fanatics (Karsh I'm eternally indebted to you for finding my beloved Oakleys :biglol: )
^^the glasses in question
My love life - last year Wesley (who I'd met through the BMWFanatics WhatsApp group) introduced me to his lovely sister-in-law at the Breakfast Run to Cullinan. I was immediately smitten and with much game and chasing later I'm glad to report that I've tied it up with said sister-in-law. I'm also pleased to say that we've been happily dating for just over a year now :inlove:
My New Car - My M135i was bought via pressure from both Gavin and Kimeran (131Gav and Defender63 respectively haha). I also bought the car from Donovan (Donnie Darko) the deal was brokered by Nivern (Nivz330d) all of whom I met through the forum. Not forgetting Shikar (DVST8) who helped me for all my aero parts on the M135i and we'll both forget about the trial and error with the way my ACS wing was lost :roflol: (wing supplied by Husain@Prominetix - had to throw in a sponsor too)
All in all, we've had great times on the forum, run ins too (i apologise for that  ) and more importantly BMWFanatics.co.za is a dear and important part of my life. I cannot mention everyone that has helped me on this journey, but I definitely thank each and everyone of you for all that's been done. Be it a simple 'thank you' for a great post, a rep point, finding my sunglasses in my wrecked car - it's all helped me to this point and I'm forever appreciative! :ty:
Here's to another 30 years of this great community!!!!
