BMW X5 Rear Suspension

Hello,

I have a question on my 2018 BMW X5 40d. The other day I noticed that the cars suspension acted strange. It felt like there is no damping at all and when I went over a small bump the back end of the car bounced several times. Initially I thought it was a flat tire but on investigating that was not the case. Well to cut a long story short after shopping for 10 min I got in the car again started it and all was good.

Then this morning I noticed that the car was sitting very low on the back wheels. (not sure if this is normal, never payed attention). When I started the car and checked it, it was at the same level. Switched of , switched on, played with the adaptive modes and it was normal again. See pictures. Any thoughts. Car still under warrantee with 73 000km on the clock.

Had the same with my F15 X5. It’s the rear air suspension (adaptive) airbag(s). Needs to be replaced, lucky you still have mplan/ warranty. Its a bit pricey to replace. Can’t remember the cost anymore since mine was replaced under mplan, but it was in the region of R20k give or take R5k. Wheel alignment needs to be done afterwards as well iirc.

The F15's with the Adaptive M Suspension has air suspension (airbags) at the back, the cars fitted with the 3rd row of seats also came std with this. There's a leak somewhere in your airbag, hence the suspension deflating over time and inflates again when the compressor kicks in when the car is started. will get worse over time. I found my invoice, it was R23k about 3 years ago, but luckily you still have mplan left.

Bmw quoted me R33k with fitment for my 530d GT. Got the OE airbags from goldwagen and got them fitted by a friend whos a mechanic. Bill came to under R15k
