BMW x5 problems

Hello guys I'm a newbie here and need some advice... I have a 2005 BMW x5 3.0d Tiptronic and it has a hissing noise at the back right and the car seems to be dropped down at that point only yet the tire is fine and not deflating and the car does not want to start. It occasionally does not start and displays trans failsafe program on the dash and when that happens I either have to swap the battery out to get it to start or I'd have to drive a while until the engine gets a bit warmer then switch it off and back on again and then it's fine... Please help

The drooping is almost certainly the air suspension packing up. It's a costly repair process.

:sorry:

R25000 repair, quote from smg. Band aid fix I found was to replace the 30 fuse at the back for the suspension, start the car and it lifts back up tot original state. Had the problem twice, never again.

R25000 for a 30amp fuse....what about the stupid people that just pay.

Interestingly, did notice a few E53's on the road with sagging rear suspensions.

Is it not a cheaper option to retrofit conventional coils to the rear? Might still be a R5k-R10k (guesstimate) job, which will involve some coding (for removing the error messages) but at least its permanent. IIRC, the pre-facelift (<2003) had normal suspension on the base models. Might be worth exploring.
