BMW X3 Performance Upgrades

Hi everyone,

My BMW X3 F25 20D is out of motorplan on about 110,000km and I'm looking to get some more power out of the car.
1) I've read that ECU Remaps or Plug&Play Performance Chips would be the easiest option...What would you recommend and what are the pros and cons of these methods?
2) EGR Delete...What benefit would this give me and should I really be looking into this?
3) DPF Removal...I've haven't had any issues with this, What benefit would this give me and should I really be looking into this?

Where could I get this done and what prices should I expect to pay?

Thanx.

1. I have a ECU remap so I cannot comment on this.

2. EGR delete - You should look a this. EGR stands for exhaust gas recirculation which means that the dirty exhaust gas is cycled back into the combustion chamber to burn more "completely" to meet emissions standard. If you do not like the idea of dirty exhaust gasses re-entering the combustion chamber then you can delete this through software or physically by blanking it off.

3. The DPF is combined with the CAT. This usually gets blocked up with the particles that it is filtering after 100'00kms. If it gets blocked, it can cause a build up of back pressure on the turbo which can cause the turbo to blow. Normally you replace this with a downpipe (DP) and then do software to tell the ECU that you do not have a CAT and DPF and can also disable the EGR (in software at the same time).

You can get this done at Xcede in Randburg (that is where i did mine). It is always best to contact them for a quote as prices change.

Are there no pros and cons to your remap?

I thought the op wanted the pros and cons of a remap vs a plug n play chip.

Either way the pros of the remap compared to stock is

More power and torque
A slight improvement in fuel economy
A more fun experience

Cons
Reduced reliability due to increased strain on the drive train
Affects insurance
Tyre's need to be changed more frequently

Thanx for the information. With regards to the Remap, besides Xcede where else can I go, I've seen eTuners, Tuned2Go, TuneTech...Anyone had experiences with them...Is a ECU remap more or less the same with everyone?

Thanx, will contact them as well.

Is there anyone else who would be able to share their experiences with ECU remaps or Plug & Play chips?
