Hi Fanatics

Any stance/low guys on our site.

I recently drop my car and just love the look. Looks wise seems i'm at a 60mm drop. That is just a lowering kit, busy saving up for a decent coil over setup.

Just need to make a little change on the tire's. i have 235/40r18 on 8.5j at the front and 255/35r18 at the rear. At the front the tire rubs a bit and at the rear there is a small gap between the tire and fender (really small). I'm considering putting the 235/40 on the 9.5j and get me 225/40 for the 8.5j at the front.

Could this work. i'm more worried about the rears.?

My E46 is on h&r sport springs(that is the drop you mentioned) with koni STR dampers. Wheels are style 152's, 18" x 8.5(rear) and 8(front). To prevent rubbing it is on 225x35 at the front and 245x30 at the rear.

The front clears fine but the back still rubs if I have 5 people in die car and go over even even roads or if corner hard. :smilebounce:

Pics you can see in my thread or on insta.

Driving experience it's perfect in my opinion, works well on the road and worked well on the track too.

I have an E46 330ci
with H&R lowered springs- can't remember the drop but very low, and looks awesome. I actually use Koni dampers -and works pretty fine, handling is awesome.
I'm using the car's original wheel set up with factory rims -
18 X8.5j rear and 18 x8 front. 255 X 35 X 18 rear tyres and 235 x 18 front. I have 10mm wheel spacers at the rear but not in front.

I'm desperately trying to find a supplier who can supply wide 18" rims to be either 8.5j or even 9j.
Everyone I've checked sells 18 x 8j nothing wider. So I'll appreciate to hear if anyone knows where i can find these

Buddy

I have had 8.5 J wheels at the front and 9.5 J at the rear with my Equips Reps.

I bought those at Autostyling Klerksdorp. The have a lot of wide 18 inch wheels. you can contact Shailen on facebook. then check what wheels you like and how wide they are.

Running Bilstein PSS 10 coilovers here on my e46 M3.

For the e46 chassis, you cannot ask for a better street/track setup for lowering and performance. This kit uses a progressive Bilstein Spring setup, with the front spring rate sitting at 650 and 750 at the rear respectively. The springs are considered stiff but as mentioned, the springs are progressive, so slow bumps and movements are gentle, but fast bumps (track day and spirited driving) do not unsettle the car.

I've dropped and raised the car many times using the coilovers for street driving and track driving. So it delivers the stance look as well as functions as a proper performance upgrade to the car.

Would highly recommend them.

you're tyre setup was the same i had on my car in the pic above. was perfect without the drop after i lowered it needed some stretch tyres on all sides.

I run a 245/35/19 upfront and 275/30/19 at the rears on my setup. There is no rubbing unless I bottom out the front suspension by lowering them as low as the front can go, and by doing this the rubbing only occurs when turning the car excessively to one side, say like a roundabout, but normal turning does not result in rubbing.

If I run 275/35/19 and not the 275/30/19 on my car, the rears will scrape if I have passengers in the car. The rear rim is an 11.5j and can do a 295 tyre width. Am interested to see what would happen there. =)

The trick with stance is low profile tyre sizes.

Thanks Crash

I have the 275/30/19 on my rears. The Tyre seems fine with this drop but the rubber protector which protect the rims against curbs rash seems to touch/scrapes on my rolled fenders when i'm driving. That's why i want to put the front tyres 235/40/19 on the 10j and get me 215 or 225/40 tyres for the front.

I think i have to take pictures and post it to explain better how my cars stance now with the 19s. just working night shift and needs to wash my car before i take pics.

yes would be nice to see the pics:thumbs:

BTW - someone please advise where i can source wide 18" rims- 8.5- 9.5 J width...Autostyling doesn't stock.
I don't want to go to 19" cos my car's really low

Did you contact Autostyling Klerksdorp.?

They not the same shop as the Autostyle Shop in Johannesburg.

Otherwise keep a eye out on Gumtree and Olx. Now and then a set pop up with those J size.
