The post was unapproved as Sheldon did not follow the rules regarding the advertising policy.

Ok, now I understand. I'll pass this bit of info to him when I get my car serviced end of the month.

An excellent workshop is S A Autotech. Anand is the man to sort out your car. Have been to many others in D.BN. He seems to be the best. Try them out.

You forgot to mention that you need to place your property on bond in order to pay for Anands services

WRT servicing, ended up taking the X5 to Shaldens off North Coast Rd. He has a large workshop with all the equipment and prices seemed reasonable. He is also RMI, AA & Bosch approved. He works on the cars himself rather than some unqualified grease monkey. But then it started to go a bit wrong. He replaced my brake pads with Ferodo & not Bosch as promised. :argh: When he worked on the sunroof he caused some nasty scratches on the roof and did not own up or offer to correct it. :argh: I had to bring it to his attention. To make matters worse the sunroof worked twice before getting stuck again. I ended up taking the car all the way to JHB to get it sorted by Sunroof Boyz who I must say done a perfect job . Johan of Sunrof Boyz told me that nothing was done on the sunroof & no parts replaced as Shalden had promised. It seems all Shalden had done was a reinitialisation on the sunroof. When the service was done by Shalden he had overfilled the oil by about 1.5l - good thing that I checked and did not drive long distances. There's plenty of good service centres out there but Shaldens is not one of them. Guess next time I'll take the X5 to Umgeni Road. As they say you live you learn.

i take the e90 to palm service station in dbn north/glen hills. Specialise in german cars. Speak to Andrew, he performs wonders:thumbs:

I can second that.If I cant do something on my car Andrew is the only other mechanic in Durban that I will let work on my car. They know what they are doing and surprisingly VW dealers send their master cars to them for the 80 point check, how wacked is that.

The only reasons I went to Shaldens was because of his accreditation and he works on the cars himself and he has a proper sized workshop with loads of BMW cars so figured he must be good. Perhaps next time I'll try the guys in Umgeni Road or Palm River Motors. The thing is not all of the independents are RMI approved.
