BMW Remote 3D View

two years later I'm still discovering new things. This feature is great to have and at the same time, not so good. It allows you to view the surroundings on your smartphone, you can see the exact location and now I fail to see why I still need a tracking device when the car basically has one

This is brilliant. I suppose you still need the tracking device so that you have someone to go recover the car for you in the event of theft.

... but do you really want the car back after it has been stolen?
This is one of the main reasons I never want to have a tracking device on my car. If it's stolen, rather pay me out then give me the car back.

Very cool that you can view it from your phone. Is it updated in real time I wonder? If someone walked to the car would it show the person near the car?

It doesn't look like it gets updated in real time, I walked next to the car and never picked me up :-(

The system has an algo that will remove what it identifies as humans or sometimes even animals.

try initiating a remote 3d view. then place a matchbox or other small item on the floor between your front mirror and back tyres. then request a new 3d view and you will see the matchbox/small item in the image.

Interesting, I guess it makes it a tad more difficult to use this feature to spy on people.

I assume when you're in the car using the cameras it will then show the humans and animals to ensure you don't drive over them?
