Hi Guys
I recently purchased a 2013 435i auto sport coupe
The first liability on log book shows a date 18/10/2013
Will the car still be under motorplan
Can it be extended
Mileage is 84000km

New to the bmw brand

Thanks in advance

If you are not sure if you have motorplan, then you probably don't.

When you buy the car, you need to have the motorplan transferred to your name, this does not happen automatically and also there is a cost involved for around a grand. If this was done, and you still have plan, then only you can extend it, otherwise you might be out of luck.

PM me the vin and I can check for you.

Hi Predator435i, you can try registering on bmwownerscircle.co.za And check the car details. It will usually show you if the MP is still active and under your name or not. I think there is an option online to extend the MP as well. Usually the MP is for 5 years / 100000km.

Did you purchase it from a dealer or privately? I would recommend going to any of the dealerships who can check the details on the system for you and advise on the renewal as well if possible.

Motorplan can only be extended before there is 6 months remaining, so for your vehicle, it would have had to be extended before 18/04/2018.

My suggestion is to take the car to your local dealer, get it assessed, pay the motorplan transfer cost (its not more than 1.5k) and try to get some stuff changed out in the last month you have left:thumbs:

Thats not true. You can extend the plan even on the day it expires.

I've extended even after my car being out of plan for 3 months. I think the six month 'rule' is just there for the sake of paperwork.

What does it cost to extend the motorplan

You will have to phone BMW and find out. It will depend on how much time and mileage you want and the current mileage on your car. A wild guess is normally R20k for a year and about 10k km.

Its cheaper to extend for "time" then it is for mileage...get another quote to extend for 10000km and see how much more that costs.

Very true there, the first time i extended my plan its was only R15k but no added mileage, got a quote now to extend again and to extend by a year and 110 000km it was R35k and to 120 000km was 45k
