BMW M3/M4 F80 consumption

Warm up cycle is always going to "waste" fuel, and I would serious avoid any frequent short trips! Rather take a longer route so that the engine/gearbox reaches proper operating temperature, not to mention allow the battery to get a decent charge.

It will be interesting to see what the typical consumption figures are for the new M3/M4, I would think it should be fairly possible to achieve close to the claimed figure if driven appropriately. But if you are nailing the throttle you cannot expect anything other than heavy fuel consumption. Bare in mind that the whole reason why BMW has gone the turbo engine route was to satisfy the green party, so lower emissions and generally lower fuel consumption. With this, generally smaller engines that are turbo charged, so with moderate driving they are leaned out to use less fuel, but when the right foot demands more, it has extra lungs to burn fuel - more power...

I'm 3Km from work which only consists of a 2 fourway stops and robot. I'm sitting on 15l/100km. About the same as my 2.5L ST on same trips.

Yeah - But are you getting to work twice as fast with a smile on your dial - that's all that counts!

As previously stated, these cars are still new so their consumption will take a few thousand km before settling.
As Philip pointed out, turbo's allow cars to use less fuel when driving efficiently but also burn more fuel when in attack mode :fencelook:
That being said, for the average driver I expect the new Ms to be lighter as the the amount/location of the torque means that the car is always ready & you don't have to drop gears or rev too high to scare that GTi :tease:
If you're going to redline from robot to robot, then fuel costs are the least of your worries :fishwack:
