look i wouldn't buy either for the money but i would go for the Mustang..just seems cooler to me...having a V8 Stang parked in your garage. For that money though id rather have an Aston :=):

Think 2 very different cars.... one has iconic parentage and is very very cool (Stang), the other is a precision instrument (BMW). Think they would be very different to drive albeit they have big HP, big tyres, 2 doors etc.
I would tend to sway to the cool factor - its going to be drooled on more and catch attention where by the M2 may just appear like another BMW 2 series to some....

graan- totally agree with all your points made. I had a m235i aswell, i know the m2 is totally different but things like interior are very similar, where as the stang will be total difference experience

I guess it depends on what you want to do with it. If you life at highveld altitudes the BMW will be much faster. At the coast they should be similiar.

If you like trackdays, get the M2
If you like posing, get the stang

i called ford yesterday, they told me 5 months waiting period, there is one arriving early next month, a 2.3 though and its sold. called bmw they said about 6 months.
yeah, i live at the coast. if i lived at altitude would even consider the stang. No track days for me.

hmmmm hard choice,
being a bmw forum i feel like i should be saying the M2 but....
i must say i like the styling more of the stang,

but i guess ultimately i look at it like this:
the one will be a proper driving car, a precision tool as mentioned
where the other is more of a cruiser/bruiser fun car

i suggest stang

The Mustang is way overpriced in SA, and therefore I would not want it.
Its also de-tuned for our supposed poor fuel. It is rated at 325kw in the US.

I think it will depreciate less than the M2 though.

The Mustang isn't a R800k car.
But if that's your 2 options, Mustang any day!

I understand what you saying but unfortunatley in 2016 thats what these cars cost. i want manual, rwd and i dont want a car older than 1 year. what other options are there

Mustang GT everyday, Its timeless, Smaller numbers produced and you receive certification to validate what spec and production number your car is.
Collectible the older it gets.

I had a very decent look at the Mustang at the New York Auto Show last year and the fit and finish isnt worth R800k in my opinion. This car is amazing value for money in the US but with the current exchange rate its way overpriced. If you can, maybe wait and go drive both before you decide. Especially if you care about fit and finish.
