To me that entire head unit there with the lights and mirrors looks un-BMW-like because in that era BMW did not use little oval switches like that. Look at the square switches for the windows etc. And those curved lights are also not the style of any BMW light. So I wouldn't be surprised if that section was outsourced per the customer's request, ergo 6x9.
