Hi guys,i dunno if im in the correct place but anyways im seeking some advice..I have a 2008 BMW 320i E90 with 87 000km on the clock...Ive noticed my vehicle smokes only when i take off from a dead stop..The smoke color is blueish white and recently after a long drive the oil light came on,when i checked the oil via the computer it says oil is full..I also have heard a bit of a pinging noise when vehicle is hot..Example like a pinging sound when a golf timing is not set correctly[/b]...Usually only at very low revs, other than that it runs well..What could be the issue here??

Lol okay cool, yours could be the valve stem seal on the head...That usually causes smoking when tapping off the accelerator or coming to a stop..Hope that helps..

So just an update on my 320i smoke issue..I took it to bmw and they figured i have been using the wrong fuel, apparently i must use 95 instead of 93..So i guess all is good..:=):

:fencelook: i don't know if that will resolve your issue changing from 93 to 95

Doesn't the ECU automatically adjust to a change in fuel quality by retarding the timing? That shouldn't be your smoking issue.

with what you describe im going to guess its a crack case vent issue sending oil into the intake effectively lowering the octane of the fuel as well as causing smoke...

only thing i can think of that fits both symptoms...

We have no choice but to use low-grade quality fuel in Malawi. Our cars don't smoke at all, just have to replace pumps/filters more frequently.

E90s seem to be having a weakness of ending up with a smoking problem, am on the 2006 320i M Sport Auto. smoking and I am these days checking them out on the road, I come across quite a lot of them smoking when changing gears or after an idle when kicking. the smoke smells funny as well. A friend told me I need to have re-engineering done, dont know a heck bout car repairs:flyfun:.......does anyone know if this will have the smoke stopped. I didnt xpect this 4rom BMW, can this be fixed???
