BMW E87 smoking

Hi All,

I own a BMW 2009 E87 120I black. Been running like a dream ever since. Of recent the car started smoking. Earlier this year I took it for a service and it came back with coil issues so I replaced the whole pack. All's been fine since recently when the car started going through a litre of oil in just a month and the now recently been going through oil once every second week. The car also smokes at lower gears when it gets "hot". Did some looking round on the net and spoke to a local mechanic who suggested I change the pcv or ccv valve. I am fairly comfortable around mechanical stuff but am stumped where this is concerned.... Any suggestions from the experienced members in the group would be greatly appreciated.

If you can get a reliable mechanic to assist you then it would probably work out to between 4 and 5000 Rand.

Around 190k on the milage. Find a reliable mechanic is hard to do. Comparing quotes and have come nothing near R5k all round the regions of R10k.

Can't expect valve stem seals to be replaced in place for round 5k and the mechanic knows what he is doing. The eccentric shaft has to be removed and can be tricky. It's going to be around 10.

I guess I'd better get ready for 2minute noodles till end of Jan then. Get it done right the first time.
