Howzit man, great car you're looking into

There are plenty of "buying an E46 M3" or "what to look out for" threads around

at minimum, if it has no motorplan left (highly likely), you will need 15 -20k per year for maintenance.

Run the codes. If the car is running lean. Walk away... I just paid massive cash to fix the problems from an e46 M3 that was running lean. Damaged Valves and exhaust cam which destroyed a piston.

Check if any service was done to Vanos and other Engine work.

These S54 motors need constant maintenance because of the brutal thrashing they take. If properly maintained, they are awesome machines and will last. But you never know if the previous owner has done the correct maintenance. Putting in the wrong oil can damage valves and rockers too. Do the research.

Looks like i will have to be carefull for this one
But really liking it more and more
Will start with my research asap
Dont want to waste unnecessary money on a car that was not properly maintained

Thanks for heads up

hi there

i have one and the nice thing abt them is that

yes brakes clutch etc are pricey to replace but they last long

if cared for properly. They are well built cars and maintained

through its life span will go a long way

Make sure the car has been serviced regular by a reputable person

make sure km's are correct

check brakes and disks,clutch etc

the one you get all depends on the budget dont compromise for like a 50k

difference between a clean one and one that needs work becuase you

will easily spend that money on repairing one thats not clean

good luck with finding a clean one,u more than welcome to come have a

look at mines so you no what to look out for
