BMW E46 Key

Hi Guys

I have just got my car back from the pannal beater due the hail storm we had a few weeks back but now my key does not unlock my car or lock it any more i have done the whole put the the key in the ignishion held down the button and the car unlocks its self but when i get out the buttons still don't work

Howzit bud. You should contact the panel beater asap and let them know what happened. They should be able to sort it out for u. Which panel beater was this?

thx guys is was Gorap panal beaters , i have tried the above suggestion and its not working all i hear is a click of a relay under the dash when i hold ether button in?

could be your relays in the gm5 module that are shot, i had the same problem, on hot days it wouldn't unlock at all. took my car to combined electronics in cpt and they sorted it out for me.

i dont seam to think its the GM5 module as when i unlock the drives door and turn the the key counter clockwise all the doors unlock ??



btw can this be picked up on ecu as a an error code ??

I'm not sure if they throw errors hey, because when you press the button your interior lights should be going on which means the alarm is off.

Hey bud. Could be that your remote is faulty, my 318 did exactly the same, had to open it up, one of the terminals from the batterys soldering went loose, resoldered, and the put back together. The locks worked fine as well as the car started fine.
