Hi Guys ,

I have a BMW E30 318i (m10 ) coupe that Im building up .Got the car with a bent valves .Seems like the rocker arm broke .I have been doing research and can see that the rocker arms are one of the weak links on this car .

So where is the best place in SA to get hardened or steel rocker arms for this motor (318i 4cyl)

Rockers are not weak, the oil feed line above it is the downfall.

Happened on my M40 - oil feed blocked up, stopped lubing the cam, but because it has Hydraulic lifters, it never bent much. It scared my cam badly, but the car still ran.

So while you at it in replacing the rocker thats broken. Check your oil feed line that lubes the cam(Buy a new one from BMW - R250) - I am assuming the M10 has the Overhead cam with an oil feed tube across the cam shaft.

Regarding the rocker arms, you dont need absolutely new, you can get second hand rockers, as long as their contact faces are not scoured or rough to the touch, they must be smooth.

Hope it helps.
