Do you have the GPS checkbox ticked in your car ? Its under the iDrive settings.

Connect your phone to the usb port in your car and then choose add another vehicle (Yes your current vehicle is listed but just carry on anyways). Choose the option to connect via usb and accept the terms and conditions - it will process and eventually display the error stating the vehicle is already added - cancel and go back to your usual profile - you will now see Fuel level, Total KM range, Current Mileage
