BMW Club Track Day at Zwartkop

Did any other fanatics attend or participate in the BMW Club track day on 05/03/2017 at Zwartkops? I entered the time trials and had a blast. There was 62 cars entered. Well organised event!

Lots of fun, managed a 1 min 16.8. Splitter and pavement had an accidental meeting.

Did a 1:16,5 I think, 1 second slower than my best but only did 2 sessions had to go to a wedding. Was supposed to use the M3 but my semi's were slightly to big in front when wheels were turned!

That is for a normal open day.
If a car club hosts it, expect to pay at least 4x as much.

How we love MSA:dark-mood:

The BMW club day on the 05/03 was R1000.00 and this included transponder timing, trophies as well as points towards club championship. This was a MSA approved event and you need a MSA licence to partake. Last years Kyalami entry fee was R1800.00.
The Zwartkops Trax Days are not MSA sanctioned and therefore no timimg is done. No timimg devices are allowed on the pit wall. I do my own timing with the Track Addict app on my phone.

How does one get to hear about events like this?

I mostly do track events with my S/C Toyota 86, but I'd like to do a few time attack events a year in my Z4. I race in the Michelin Cup series, and due to the 86 having a misfire, I competed last month at Red Star with my Z4. Being only a 3.0 sDrive on road tyres, I wasn't very competitive, but I had a hoot with the top down.

You can look on the Zwartkop's website, they have Super Trax days on a monthly basis. You can also check out the BMW Car Club Gauteng, they have 5 events in the year, each event is at a different track, Zwartkops, Midvaal, Red Star, Phakisa and Kyalami.
