My local BMW Dealership has to order the part and the cost will be covered in whole by BMW South Africa as a goodwill gesture.

I would ask them what the new price will be...

Well the guy from BMW said that BMW's supplier for the part charges them R8900, and then shipping and all that still gets added. So the price of R13500 is the real price. Just goes beyond reason why it would cost that much.

My wife could not understand why i was so upset that the tow company had lost this part for the X5... And then why I was overjoyed when I found it in the cubby hole. :joy: I was thinking more than 375!!

It is made of wood and the silver coating is purportedly Ruthenium. I will say though that it looks like a million bucks and it is very stable once clicked it. It even has a handy storage area in the rear center cubby. Will post a pic later.
