BMW 528i E12/28

Recently bought a one owner 528i (1982 one of 2,200 cars built), a practical modern day classic. Took it to the roadworthycentre today without any pre-preparation.

Two light bulbs to be replaced, the lower fog light lense is a problem, left indicator lense to be replaced and two sweaty oil areas to be attended to.

Not bad for a 30 year old car, now the fun can start. I am going to need parts and practical advice.

Congrats on buying a stunning car!!! Yay, another E12 owner on our forum. Rudi, you can't go wrong asking Adi for advice and parts. He and Luis are the E12 nutters in JHB. If you do get stuck on the indicator lens, I have spares, but am in CT. Enjoy your car, and post some more detailed photos. :bravo: and :praise:

Stunning car well done.
From the wheels I am led to believe that this must have been right on the change from E12 to E12/8.
The later E12/8 had a different type of rim on it.
I will try and get a pic to show what I mean.

Here is the design of the later wheels.

Bottle caps ......still one of my favourites .....I think they had 195/70x14 (630mm dia ) tyres , may be a bit scarce ... similar diameter to a 205/60x15 (627 mm dia ) tyre or a 225/45x17 (633 mm dia ).

Good morning all bmw fanatics. Hope to get some info about a bmw 528 i seller says its a e12 but with a little investigation looks to me like an e28, but I might be completely wrong as I am a complete newby to BMW's. I have added a few pics of the car.

Thanks for all the help

Hi bud.
Thats an E12. E28 has a different rear.

PS. Might be a good idea to start a new thread instead of using this one. Post some pics also.
