Hello fellow BMW owners

I own a BMW 330d LCI:=):. Last week Friday the damper pulley on the crank pulley failed at 175000km . I was busy driving on the free way when it happened. I bought a new one on Monday morning and installed it. When I tried to start the car, it gave me an yellow exclamation mark and it refused to start. Do I need to have the ECU reset or faults cleared on the car with a diagnostic.

Hi. thank you for offering to help but after countless hours of thinking what could be wrong and reading other threads on this site. I started from the back of the car checking every possible thing and found that some how the "lift pump" packed up. So yesterday I installed a new one and she started first kick.

That's excellent news man, glad it is sorted out now. Modern cars are very finicky regarding fuel pressure, how did you deduce it's the pre-supply/lift pump?

First I tested the battery power while trying to start the car to see how much voltage drop there is. The battery didn't go lower than 10.5 volts. so I figured it couldn't be the battery. Then i disconnected the diesel filter and tried to start again just to see if there is diesel coming out. When that didn't happen I unplugged the pump and gave it 12v directly from a charger, nothing happened. Took out the pump and test it out side, nothing happened it was "dead". I installed a new one I had and it started first kick(after I primed the line first).
