That is amazing! Well done!

I was looking for something exactly like this.

What system/platform did you use?
What about adding an adapter for the cigarette socket for power?

Thats exactly how I am gonna charge it. It had 16hrs standby time.

Cool, how long does it take to start up?

Ideally you keep it plugged in all the time for charging when you have the car on and the battery keeps it on standby so it picks up your phone when you get near.

Please post some more details when you can.

Its got a button for on/off/voice dialing/pause (depending on length of holding the button in. It will startup in seconds. No need to keep it plugged in for charging. The reason why I wanted this was not to have any cable in sight.

Speaking of Arduino.... Does anyony have any experience with it? I need some help with code... :fencelook:

I am a recent starter to Arduino. By no means an expert. What are you trying to do?

I succeeded in what I wanted to achieve and now I have unlocked so many more options. Any Bluetooth device can be connected in a few secs and instant audio. Also what is nice is the fact that it switches off once the radio goes off.

I can use the following if I need to thru my HTC Flyer which fastens to my dash.
1. Voice calls
2. Skype calls, video or voice
3. Music/videos/movies
4. Navigation
5. Torque app is installed as well
6. Dashcam
7. more, more, more

I can control my HTC thru a small keypad that is placed where I found easy to control.

Now some of you may say, you could still use all this but you lack 2 things.....no cables less connection and no keypad to control your device.

Now for the funny bit. I built this from a set of Bluetooth headphones......
it can connect to any aux port, be it at your house, car, etc and you will have Bluetooth audio. I have not experienced any issues so far and have been using it for a week in my car.

I will post some pics/video of the install later on in the day.

Good going there mr.Smartieman.

I exployted something else that someone might be intereted in:

My e46 has the belkin unit installed and it works like a charm. It uses ad2p, which is the hq audio protocol for audio from my phone. Only this type audio is supported at the moment, not the mono voice calls. I guess Android will have a piece of software somewhere to switch mono voice calls to ad2p channels.

You have to supply 5V dc from the hu, by building a small powersupply, 12v to 5vdc, using a 7805 voltage regulator. If you dont power from the HU acc line, your bt device will constantly draw power from the battery. Something you want to avoid. The Belkin only draws 180mA, so heat is not a problem. I installed it in the boot and used some good quality shielded audio cable to connect the Belkin to the HU.

The belkin comes with a 5v Ac psu.
I have another sealed in a box if anyone is interested. Can be bought from Dion Wired for R450.

P.S. if you can modify a USB charger, 5V dc is readily available. No needto build anything
