As title state, has anyone been on the blue train before? Think about taking my mom on it. PTA-CPT route...

Read some review, half is positive and half is not so good, so don't know if is worth the money:fencelook:

This train was in an accident a few years ago :fencelook:

It was, however it has come out the panelbeaters better than it went in :)

Lovely experience. Your mom will enjoy it.
It is best to approach it with an open mind and no preconceptions.

Never been on myself, my dad's been on it with Japanese tourists...he told me it's nice (as in "luxurious/opulence nice") but the train ride was a little too short.

Like what a1exander mentioned, best you go see for yourself, in the end you can say "Hey! Been there, done that, got the keyring hahaha"

The price I got was R8500 1 way per person sharing and R9700 1 way per person sharing with 1 night hotel stay at VA waterfront. Both has return flight up to R1200 per person, which I think is a pretty good deal. Normal price is like R13000 per person sharing with no return flight....:flyfun:

I guess is just 1 of those things you have to go and experience yourself, and like Alexander said, going with an open mind:idea:

I've been on it and it's definitely a unique experience. Best to go in a group of good friends and have a blast

I went on it last weekend from hoedspruit to pta. There were 8 of us. Service is top class. Food was excellent but not outstanding. Couldn't sleep much though. Blue Train might be luxurious but the tracks it runs on not so much so there's a fair bit of rocking and bumping and the beds are tiny.

I know it used to do different trips too, even up into neighbouring countries. So maybe look into that if you want a longer experience.

there is also the other train travel which is usually advertised on groupon. Last I checked they were pretty neat. I can't remember the name, and they also offer travel to Vic falls and so.

I had contacted the train service/travel co. even after the groupon offer expired and they were prepared to let me have it at the discounted price.

Now that's very good service from the travel company:thumbs:

But groupon doesn't give a Sh!t, all they want is just your money and that's it. when you paid, consider your problem.

I have heard horrid story that restaurants or other that does not honor the voucher, and if you check/look around properly, some prices might be cheaper than groupon:yuck:

So had the pleasure taking my mom on the blue train this Monday, service was top notch, from the arrival of the train station, onboard and arrival of Cape Town. everything was perfect:thumbs:

Train was delayed for 4 hours, so didn't get a chance to stop by Kimberly, so was a long ride (31 hours to be exact). Train was a smooth ride, didn't sleep much overnight but that's probably coz I had a monster drink and some coffee on the train:fishwack:

Value for money... depends, service, food, accommodation were all great, but I think you mainly you pay for the story/history and the luxury of the train. I'm very fortunate to ride the train once in my life and will cherish this memory forever:rollsmile:
