Bi Xenon Install Cooper S

Hi All,

My Cooper S Clubman did not come from the factory with the BiXenon/HID
headlights.

Now, I have found the entire headlights at a fairly decent price. How can I go about installing them. Do i need HID ballasts and do i need to do anything to the ECU for error codes?

Any guidance would help. I'm tired of the crappy standard headlights and don't want to put HID's into the standard headlight unit.

Theres sensors etc., that does the auto levelling of the headlights.

Do a search on the North American Motoring forum, its not a simple plug and play.

There's a lot of posts on the subject.

Im with sherwinZ. Theres also the washer bottles and connection needed to the wiper stalk for activation.

Speak to MikeBMW, I know he retrofitted this to his MINI:thumbs:

I believe BMWs comes wit built-in ballasts. It may be the same for MINI.
I am not 100 % sure though.
Perhaps someone can clear that up or you could research it before purchasing ballasts.

Thanks for the responses guys. It seems like quite the mission. I need: Head lights, globes, sensors and a ecu-reprogram. I really want to do this

Well, I would imagine that you can do it in teh same way that I did oem retrofit on my E46?

Install the headlights.
Wire in capacitors to prevent bulb out errors.
And off you go. My headlights have manual height control (so no auto level sensors) and no need to retrofit the washers either.

We need to chat as I need to know where the capacitor gets wired in to the system. I should be getting the headlights soon

hotchocolate, where did you get your lights from?
I saw a set at GG but their prices were insane, along with most of their other stuff.

Sure, no problem. Send me a PM. BUT, I am only speculating that it will be the same or similar in a mini. My advice is to try and find a thread somewhere online where someone has done the retrofit of OEM headlights, just to confirm the details. But conceptually, I'd imagine it will work as described.
