Best way to experience John Wick 3

The John Wick film series is best watched on the big screen, given the brilliant action choreography AND the smooth, single shot camera work (unlike the Taken movies which have too many camera cuts and shaky camerawork).

So, seeing that JW3 opens this Friday, which is the best way to experience it?

1. IMAX (big screen is a plus)
2. 4DX (Not as big as IMAX screen, but the seats are dynamic and there are wind, water and tickler (seriously) effects in the 4DX bespoke theatre).
3. D-BOX (Just the seat is dynamic - and seem to have more individual settings control over the 4DX seats. The seats are still located in normal cinema theatres, though.).

JW3 is only available in 2D, so no 3D gimmicks to worry about.

I am torn between IMAX and 4DX.

I don't watch much at the Theatres coz I much prefer lazing on my couch watching movies, but this 4DX does sound like a nice exp

I hope this movie is all its hyped to be and not another saga like Fast and Furious..

This worries me to be honest.

I loved the first two movies, I am a tad worried about the third.

Lets hope it doesnt become a wishy washy series like the F&F.



If the Rock is chosen for sequels, I wont watch them. Its not that I have anything against the Rock. I think hes a fantastic person and a great source of inspiration, BUT, anything he becomes involved in becomes overhyped and under delivered to a certain extent.

Ie; The F&F movies hes involved in, would I watch them again later on? NO.

Would I watch the JW's? Yes and I still do.



Fingers crossed, heres hoping. I might actually just take myself out for a treat and go watch this next weekend.

JW3 is rated 18, so I am glad that there would be no noisey kids in the cinema. Also, because it is not PG13 (every movie these days is PG13), I assume the film makers would take some nice risks with this movie - no holding back on the action violence, decent mature dialogue, no silly (think Kevin Hart or the Rock) jokes.

I watched King Kong Skull Island in 4DX. It was a good ride. But, I figure JW3 may be better to watch on an IMax screen, given the cinematography (some of it was shot in Morocco).

I can't recall the last movie I watched in a cinema of any sort, lol.

Prefer watching movies at home and "ALONE" so nobody bothers me.

4DX is at Numetro.
I went to the one in Hyde Park Corner.

Tickets are around R200.

The experience is worth it, for the right type of movie.

Not only is the action amazing, the settings and shot composition mean every frame is a masterpiece.

Watched it in 4DX today.

The action and violence is relentless - similar to that in Indonesian/Thai action movies, like The Raid and Raid 2.
I did find the action a bit tiring - there is just so many headshots and Judo chops that one can take.
But, at least the movie does get creative with the set pieces - horses, dogs, motorcycles, knives.
The story does seem very far removed from the simple revenge plot in the 1st movie.
The 3rd movie builds upon the illuminati type of secret society introduced in the 2nd movie, which does get tiresome a bit when they start expostioning.
Overall, I still rate the 1st movie as the best overall movie (a solid 7/10) - it is a simple revenge plot with good action and pacing.
The 3rd one felt like the 2nd one on steroids - with lots more action and not much story or character development (in the first one, we could feel that he was a broken man after his wife died and then his dog died). In the 3rd one he acts and feels like a Terminator - nothing can stop him and he seems emotionless.

However, as far as the "movie experience" goes, the 3rd one is the best. That is why 4DX is the best way to watch this movie. You feel every kick, stab, gunshot and blood splatter (water and wind spray in your face).

2 solid hours of your chair being bounced around, wind and water in your face and flashing lights may give you a headache afterwards. But, it is worth it at R190 a ticket.

I rate the experience as 8 and the movie as 6'
